A/Prof Peter J Papantoniou is an Australian-trained Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon, born and raised in Sydney, where he still lives with his family. He completed his medical degree at the University of NSW, followed by specialist Orthopaedic training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association, earning both FRACS(Orth) and FAOrthA. With a focus on knee and spine surgery, he has treated private and Workers Compensation patients for many years.
Driven to better assist injured patients, A/Prof Papantoniou pursued legal studies, obtaining a Juris Doctor and a Master of Laws. He also provides medico-legal consultations and reports. Throughout his career, he has taught medical students and Orthopaedic Registrars, and was appointed Associate Professor of Surgery at Sydney University in 2010.
In 2007, he developed a pioneering pain relief technique for spine surgery, later published in a 2012 text on Local Infiltration. He remains dedicated to advancing his skills with ongoing training and international surgical visits, while continuing to care for both Workers Compensation and private patients.
